You’re offered a job for more money and less work. You jump at opportunity.
That’s what PGA Tour players are facing from the LIV Tour. The only reason some haven’t made the leap is sports are different from others businesses. There’s a player’s legacy, trying to see how they fare against the all-time greats.
All though such star players — Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, Louis Oosthuizen and Sergio Garcia among them — who’ve already made the jump will be missed, there are plenty of stars players remaining with the PGA Tour.
The dilemma is there are 44 PGA Tour tournaments and most of the top players play 25 or fewer times a year. There will be tournaments left wanting. How will that effect attendance and sponsors at lower tier tournaments?
Already the PGA Tour is talking about much bigger purses. Greg Norman must be smiling from ear to ear.
