If you’re a golf fan, make sure to mark your calendar for the exciting events below!

There may not be a Ryder Cup scheduled for this year, but there are many other golf tournaments to anticipate, including several which are happening very soon, this month and in April. Let’s look at some upcoming events on the PGA tour for the 2021-2022 season.

Corales Puntacana Championship

Golf fans have an exciting championship to look forward with the Corales Puntacana Championship in the Dominican Republic. Established back in 2016, it’s now one of the most picturesque settings in the history of golf venues, with a green that covers 72 pars of over 7,000 yards. In 2021, attendees and those watching from home were shocked when Joel Dahmen secured the title with a 1-shot victory over fellow competitors Rafael Campos and Sam Ryder. It was Dahmen’s very first PGA tour win and an emotional one at that, especially after his slow start in the beginning of the season. This year, Mark Anderson, Kiradech Aphibarnrat and Arjun Atwal are all steep competition for the $3 million prize. If you’re thinking of catching all the action live, the good news is that DR is a relatively inexpensive island compared with others in the Caribbean. Get your tickets today!

Valero Texas Open

Traveling back state-side, the Valero Texas Open will kick off on Oaks Course in San Antonio on March 31 and last until April 3. Believe it or not, this tournament dates all the way back to 1922, making it the third oldest on the PGA tour. This championship sees 144 top professionals take to the green to compete for a $7.9 million purse. Jordan Spieth was last year’s victor, and other iconic golfers such as Arnold Palmer, Ben Crenshaw, Justin Leonard and Adam Scott and Walter Hagen have all been Texas Open champs over the years. This year’s expert golf odds will be busy at work covering all the news and top contenders surrounding Valero ahead of opening day. In 2022, Texas’ own Dallas native Scottie Scheffler is listed as a major contender. If you can handle the Texas heat, make a plan to attend this event today!

Played in Augusta, Georgia, The Masters is one of the most highly anticipated tournaments in the sport of golf

Masters Tournament

Anyone who knows anything about golf knows that the Masters are an extremely important golf spectacle and one of the major four that include the U.S. Open, The Open Championship and the

U.S. PGA Championship. The event takes place annually, normally during the second weekend of April and has been played at the beautiful Augusta National Golf Club since 1934 (87 years and running). Unsurprisingly, the Masters boast one of the biggest prize purses, with the victor slated to take home a whopping $11.5 million and the prestigious Green Jacket. Legendary golfer Tiger Woods became famous for winning an incredible five Masters between 1997 and 2019, but nowadays its Japanese player Hideki Matsuyama who is making a splash, taking home 8 titles in the Japan Golf Tour and the Green Jacket last year. Tickets to the Masters are quite hard to get, but if you’re interested in going in person, there’s a lottery that prospective attendees can sign up for ahead of the big day. However, even if you watch from home it’s always a highly entertaining event.

RBC Heritage

After the Masters wraps up, golf aficionados can set their eyes on RBC Heritage, a historical event on the PGA tour that starts just a few days after the festivities in Augusta come to a close. From April 14-17, the sport’s top golfers will meet on Hilton Head Island to compete for a $8 million prize purse and the famous Captain of Gentlemen Golfers plaque which is traditionally passed down to the next victor. The RBC Heritage has been held annually since 1969 and therefore has a strong legacy that is still upheld today. If you can’t make it to South Carolina come April, tune in on TV as live coverage will be held by CBS and the Golf Channel.
