Background

Welcome to the Week 17 edition of the Midnight Mailbag! I’ll be asking for your lingering questions after each Jaguars game on 1010XL’s Facebook and X/Twitter pages, with the submission deadline set for 11:59 p.m. the same day.

Here were your questions following Jacksonville’s 20-13 win over the Tennessee Titans.

From @imbillmcneal — Is the Press Release regarding Baalke and Pederson sent next Sunday night or Black Monday morning/afternoon?

As previously written in this column, expect news to come on Black Monday. Pederson and his staff will be officially fired that day. As for Baalke, a Sunday morning report from CBS Sports hinted that he’ll be gone as well. Right now I have 100% confidence in Pederson leaving and 75% confidence in Baalke leaving.

From myself — What’s this week’s best Brian Thomas Jr. stat?

Thomas Jr. joined Randy Moss, Odell Beckham Jr. and Ja’Marr Chase as the only rookies in NFL history to record 1,100+ receiving yards and 10+ receiving TDs. He also joined Moss as the only rookies to post eight games of 60+ yards and a score. “I was on the sideline in Green Bay when Randy had a big day in Minnesota against us,” Pederson said postgame. “I remember that his rookie season. Randy Moss is a heck of a receiver and Brian just keeps impressing each week. Can’t say enough good things about Brian and just happy for him. But just goes to show you just with him, speaking on Brian, the way he works, the way he handles himself for a young kid, very impressive. Very impressed with Brian.”
