First quarter
The Jaguars got the ball first and moved the chains thanks to a 10-yard rush by Tank Bigsby on 4th-and-1. The drive stalled out once they got past midfield and Logan Cooke pinned the Raiders on their own 3-yard line. Left tackle Walker Little injured his ankle and is questionable to return.
Brock Bowers got his offense out of the poor positioning with a 32-yard catch-and-run down the right sideline, but fellow rookie Maason Smith responded by recording his second career sack to help force a punt.
Travis Etienne and Brenton Strange each picked up about a dozen yards and a first down before Mac Jones threw three straight incompletions, one of which was a brutal overthrow to a wide-open Brian Thomas Jr.
Jacksonville got the ball back quickly thanks to a big tackle for loss by Darnell Savage and a sack by Arik Armstead- just his second of the season and first since Week 1. A 26-yard punt return by Devin Duvernay and a 15-yard penalty on Las Vegas set up Jones and Co. just outside the redzone. Former Jaguar K’Lavon Chaisson nearly intercepted a screen pass, but it was ruled incomplete, and Thomas Jr. picked up 16 yards to put the ball at the 12-yard line. A defensive holding call against Las Vegas then had the ball on the 1-yard line, where a Bigsby plunge led to the first points of the game.
Jaguars 7, Raiders 0
Raiders quarterback Aiden O’Connell had the longest run of his career, a 13-yard scramble, and found Jakobi Meyers for a 24-yard gain to put L.V. in scoring position as the first quarter expired.
Second quarter
O’Connell connected with Tre Tucker for 29 yards over Tyson Campbell to reach the 1-yard line, and Alexander Mattison reached the endzone to even the score.
Jaguars 7, Raiders 7
Mitch Morse’s first penalty of the season put the Jaguars in 1st-and-20, and they were unable to pick up a first down. O’Connell led L.V. down the field with three straight completions, and Daniel Carlson kicked a 49-yard field goal to take the lead.
Jaguars 7, Raiders 10
An illegal formation penalty wiped off a 24-yard pickup by Thomas Jr. and the Jaguars again went three-and-out. The Raiders put together a 10-play, 44-yard drive that ended with a 37-yard field goal by Carlson.
Jaguars 7, Raiders 13
Bigsby put the ball on the dirt on the first play of Jacksonville’s next drive. Fortunately, the defense held L.V. to a three-and-out, but unfortunately, Strange fumbled on the following drive as the Jaguars were orchestrating a two-minute drill.
Third quarter
Walker Little and Darnell Savage (concussion) have been ruled out.
The Raiders went three-and-out to start the half. Bigsby picked up two first downs with his legs, but Chaisson wrapped up Jones for an 11-yard sack on third down. Las Vegas picked up just one first down before punting again.
Etienne picked up a first down through the air, then another Morse penalty ended up causing another punt. Cooke only sent it 20 yards to the Jaguars’ 33-yard line, but the Raiders had a special teams blunder of their own when Carlson missed a 46-yard field goal.
Thomas Jr. got wide open via busted coverage and scored a 62-yarder to give the Jaguars the lead! He now has over 1,000 yards on the season.
Jaguars 14, Raiders 13
Fourth quarter
O’Connell led Las Vegas on a 10-play, 70-yard drive that was capped by a 7-yard score from Ameer Abdullah to re-take the lead. Their two-point attempt was no good.
Jaguars 14, Raiders 19
Jacksonville responded with a three-and-out. Las Vegas was able to take about six minutes off the clock before punting with three minutes left in the game. The Jags almost got across midfield, but a holding penalty made it 4th-and-11, and they turned the ball over on downs.
