Shad Khan fires Doug Marrone after Jaguars finish 1-15

By: Hays Carlyon Jaguars owner Shad Khan fired coach Doug Marrone on Monday morning, a day after the team completed a 1-15 season. The Jaguars lost their final 15 games under Marrone, who took over the job on an interim basis for the final two games of the 2016 season before being promoted to coach. Khan now will hire a new coach and general manager after firing Dave Caldwell earlier in the season. Khan released the following statement announcing the […]

Urban Meyer would be a home run hire for Shad Khan, Jaguars

By: Hays Carlyon Don’t overthink this. If Jaguars owner Shad Khan can persuade Urban Meyer to accept control of the football program as coach, be happy. Actually, be elated. Be euphoric. These are the established elite coaches in the sport: Bill Belichick, Nick Saban, Sean Payton, Andy Reid, Pete Carroll, Meyer, Mike Tomlin and John Harbaugh. That’s the list. That’s the kind of elite coach Khan will have landed. An elite coach will be wearing your logo, leading your team. […]

VICTORY!!! JAGUARS LAND TOP PICK WITH LOSS TO BEARS!!!

By: Hays Carlyon Trevor Lawrence will be a Jaguar. If he enters the NFL Draft. The Clemson junior now holds all of Jacksonville’s hopes in his hands. The Jaguars “earned” the No. 1 pick in the draft with their 41-17 loss to Chicago on Sunday at TIAA Bank Field, their franchise-record 14th consecutive loss. Lawrence, a phenom since his freshman season, is expected by all league observers to enter the draft once Clemson completes its playoff run. Nothing can happen […]

Jets Win: Great day in Jaguars history includes 40-14 loss at Ravens

By: Hays Carlyon I won’t remember where I was when the Jaguars lost at Baltimore 40-14. The team suffered its 13th consecutive loss on Sunday, a franchise record for futility. I will remember where I was when the previously winless New York Jets shocked the Los Angeles Rams 23-20 three hours later. Why? Because that moment might have just delivered the top pick in the draft and the phenom that comes with it: Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Our problems might be […]

Time for Jaguars to start thinking future with their lineup decisions

By: Hays Carlyon I’m glad rookie running back James Robinson reached the 1,000-yard rushing milestone on Sunday. Now, shut him down. I’ve seen enough. Robinson’s achievement was the lone highlight in another lousy Sunday, this one more dismal than most even in this atrocious season. Tennessee (9-4) sent the Jaguars to their 12th consecutive loss with a 31-10 drubbing at TIAA Bank Field. Robinson ran for 67 yards and now the undrafted free agent has 1,035 on the season. He […]

This Jaguars team is awful, but it’s earned our respect

By: Hays Carlyon I keep waiting for the egg to be laid. I’ll keep waiting. Give credit to Jaguars coach Doug Marrone and his staff. Give credit to the players. The Jaguars are horrible, but no one can accuse them of being checked out on a dismal season. No one is going through the motions or making business decisions. The Jaguars lost their 11th consecutive game on Sunday in another near miss: a 27-24 overtime loss at Minnesota. Marrone’s young […]
