2025 Jacksonville Jaguars free agency signings tracker with grades

todayMarch 10, 2025

Background

Welcome to the American football version of March Madness.

The Jaguars are looking for new roster additions after the franchise hired Liam Coen as head coach, James Gladstone as general manager, and Tony Boselli as executive VP of football operations earlier this offseason.

Here’s a quick look at every player Jacksonville has signed or re-signed in 2025 free agency, with the most recent moves listed at the top.

C Robert Hainsey

Contract: Three-year deal for $21 million ($7 million per year) with $13 million guaranteed

Background: Hainsey was selected by the Buccaneers in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft out of Notre Dame. After playing just 66 total snaps as a rookie, he took over the starting center job when retired Ryan Jensen retired in 2022. Hainsey held that role for two seasons until Tampa Bay drafted Graham Barton in the first round last year. Hainsey played a bit better when filling in for injured players in Liam Coen’s scheme last year. At the very least, he provides an immediate upgrade over Luke Fortner as the Jaguars’ top center on its current roster.

Grade: B-

OT Chuma Edoga

Contract: Two-year deal for $7 million ($3.5 million per year) with $3.2 million guaranteed

Background: Edoga was selected by the Jets in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft out of USC. He started eight games as a rookie, but a Week 12 season-ending knee injury led to him losing a starting gig in his second year. Edoga was eventually waived by New York and claimed by Atlanta in 2022. He drew one start at left guard, got injured again, and signed with Dallas the following offseason. He played in all 17 games with six starts for the 2023 Cowboys and allowed 3 sacks on the season, per PFF. After Dallas drafted Tyler Guyton in the first round last year, Edoga served as their swing tackle in 2024 — the role he figures to battle for in Jacksonville.

Grade: C+

OG Patrick Mekari

Contract: Three-year deal for $37.5 million ($12.5 million per year) with $20 million guaranteed

Background: Mekari was signed by the Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2019 out of Cal. He’s played in double-digit games for Baltimore in every season since, serving as a versatile backup and part-time special-teamer. Mekari started 12 games in 2021 at right tackle and all 17 games (plus two playoff contests) in 2024 at left guard. He’s a high-floor addition for the Jaguars and will likely start at right guard in 2025, while providing the flexibility to move to any other position — perhaps even fullback — if needed.

Grade: B

WR Dyami Brown

Contract: One-year deal for $12 million with $10 million guaranteed

Background: At North Carolina, Brown became the first player since 2000 to average 20-plus yards per reception in consecutive years. The field-tilter was selected by the Commanders in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft, but he caught just 29 passes for 476 yards in his first three seasons. Brown performed better under Kliff Kingsbury’s scheme, as he notched 30 receptions for 308 yards in the 2024 regular season — and he hit another gear in Washington’s three postseason games, averaging 5 catches for 76 yards per contest. His deep speed and versatility will be welcomed alongside Brian Thomas Jr. in Jacksonville, though his signing shouldn’t prevent the Jaguars from continuing to add pass-catchers.

Grade: B

TE Hunter Long

Contract: Two-year deal for $5 million ($2.5 million per year) with TBD guaranteed

Background: Long was selected by the Dolphins in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft out of Boston College. He was limited to just a single reception in three years before he and a third-round pick were sent to the Rams for cornerback Jalen Ramsey. Long caught 7 passes for 60 yards and scored twice, including a punt block return, in 2024. Even in pro free agency, NFL front offices will often go back to their opinions on players when they were draft prospects. Perhaps when Los Angeles (and now, Jacksonville) acquired Long, it was largely due to the scouting work done by new Jaguars general manager James Gladstone.

Grade: C+

S Eric Murray

Contract: Three-year deal for $22.5 million ($7.5 million per year) with $12 million guaranteed

Background: Murray was selected by the Chiefs in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft out of Minnesota. He racked up 100 tackles and 7 pass breakups in three seasons with Kansas City before he was traded to the Browns for defensive lineman Emmanuel Ogbah. Murray spent one season in Cleveland, then signed a contract with the Texans in 2020. He totaled 262 tackles and 16 pass breakups in five seasons with Houston, including 75 tackles and 10 pass breakups in 2024. The veteran defensive back played 337 snaps at free safety, 352 snaps as a box safety, and 221 snaps as a slot corner last year, per PFF, so he’ll provide the Jaguars plenty of versatility on the back end.

Grade: C-

TE Johnny Mundt

Contract: Two-year deal for $5.5 million ($2.75 million per year) with TBD guaranteed

Background: Mundt signed with the Rams as an undrafted free agent in 2017 out of Oregon. As a primarily blocking tight end, he caught just 10 passes in 47 games across five seasons in L.A., though he notched 55 catches and 4 scores in 51 games across three seasons in Minnesota. He spent the past three years there with Jaguars offensive coordinator Grant Udinski. “I believe Johnny Mundt is the best 3rd TE in the NFL,” Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell said in 2023. “The variety of jobs he can do on all three downs, doesn’t get enough credit for how he runs- or how he blocks for that matter.”

Grade: C+

QB Nick Mullens

Contract: Two-year deal for $6.5 million ($3.25 million per year) with $3 million guaranteed

Background: Despite breaking various Southern Miss career passing records and earning 2015 Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year, Mullens went undrafted in 2017. He signed with the 49ers and started 16 games, with a 151.9 pass rating in his NFL debut, albeit a 5-11 overall record in three seasons under head coach Kyle Shanahan. Mullens signed as a backup with the Browns in 2020 then the Vikings in 2021. He spent the past three seasons in Minnesota with new Jaguars offensive coordinator Grant Udinski. This is a notable upgrade at backup quarterback for Jacksonville.

Grade: B+

CB Jourdan Lewis

Contract: Three-year deal for $30 million ($10 million per season) with $20 million guaranteed

Background: Lewis starred in college at Michigan, where he earned consecutive first-team All-American honors and the 2016 Big Ten Defensive Back of the Year award, and was drafted in the third round by the Cowboys in 2017. He was a steady contributor for eight seasons and only missed notable time in 2022 due to a foot injury. At 5′ 10″ and under 200 pounds, Lewis primarily lines up in the slot alignment — making his fit in Jacksonville murky considering the flashes Jarrian Jones showed at that position as a rookie last season. That said, Lewis is a productive veteran defender (10 INTs, 44 PBUs, 386 tackles in his career) with the leadership qualities the Jaguars’ new management covets.
