Welcome to the latest edition of “Gus’ Tiers” at 1010XL/92.5 FM!
Each Wednesday, I’ll be using Tiermaker dot com to create a 100% correct ranking of a timely subject related to the Jacksonville Jaguars/NFL landscape.
For this week’s Tier, I ranked Jaguars who could make the Pro Bowl this season.
The short list: Trevor Lawrence, Josh Hines-Allen, Foye Oluokun
Lawrence and Hines-Allen have already made the Pro Bowl, and I expect them to ascent to All-Pro territory sooner than later.
Oluokun has not received a Pro Bowl nod, but not because he doesn’t deserve it — he leads the NFL in tackles across the past three seasons. He could get his first nod this year with improved DL play.
Depends on production: Travis Etienne, Evan Engram, Tyson Campbell
Engram has already made multiple Pro Bowl appearances, but like Etienne, whether he gets recognition this year will depend on how much he’s able to fill the stat sheet in a crowded offense. Engram and Etienne both have Pro Bowl-caliber talent but they may not get enough usage to produce big seasons playing with Christian Kirk, Gabe Davis and Brian Thomas Jr.
Meanwhile, Campbell is also skilled enough to make a Pro Bowl, but he has to play more consistently and record more pass breakups to get a nod.
Has to take a leap: Anton Harrison, Travon Walker, Andre Cisco
Harrison is already one of the NFL’s top offensive tackles under the age of 25, and Walker and Cisco have shown notable growth over the course of their rookie contracts. These three have undeniable talent but still need to take another leap to be recognized among the best at their respective positions.
Special teams aces: Logan Cooke, Devin Duvernay
Cooke and Duvernay are two of the most effective special teams players in the league. They could make the Pro Bowl with career-best seasons.
Honorable mentions: Arik Armstead, Christian Kirk
I don’t think Armstead or Kirk will get the amount of opportunities needed to rack up stats and make their first Pro Bowl, as neither are full-time players, but I wanted to include them because they’re vets who certainly deserve to make it to Orlando at least once.
Jacksonville Jaguars Secure Two Defensive Signings, Featuring S Adrian Amos Amid Wingard's Recovery In preparation for their upcoming preseason matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs, the Jacksonville Jaguars are actively reshaping their lineup. The team made significant moves today by officially signing safety Adrian Amos and defensive tackle Jonathan Marshall. Alongside these signings, the Jaguars have waived DT Adam Gotsis and placed CB Gregory Junior on waivers due to injury. Should Junior successfully clear waivers, he is slated to transition […]
