Jacksonville Jaguars Linked with Move to Pick Up Travis Hunter in 2025 NFL Draft
The Jacksonville Jaguars are said to be aiming their sights on 2024 Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter in the 2025 NFL Draft. The 21-year-old cornerback/wide receiver is going to be one of the hottest properties in the draft, and it’s no surprise that head coach Liam Coen would be looking to bring in the Florida-born star to EverBank Stadium.
The Jaguars suffered a poor 4-13 season in 2024, which led to the departure of Doug Pederson as well as general manager Trent Baalke. No doubt quarterback Trevor Lawrence would be keen to see Hunter among those he would link up with in 2025, but Jacksonville are not the only likely suitor.
Jacksonville fans who feel that Coen can push their team into the postseason for the first time since 2022 may want to back those dreams with a bet. With that in mind, this Fanatics sportsbook promo code would be a very useful way to line up such a wager.
The Jaguars have the fifth overall pick at the NFL Draft and will have ten picks, and you can be sure that Hunter would be an option that Coen and new general manager James Gladstone would want to secure.
As for Gladstone’s NFL Draft strategy, the young general manager laid out his plan of action, commenting,
“I’m glad you asked that because something that’s been very clear to both Liam [Coen] and I, and it’s something we both value innately, is physical and mental toughness. I know that probably was apparent in that just by default, the offensive line and defensive line, that breeds that sort of mentality and that type of play. We prioritized addressing the offensive line through free agency. I think we’ll continue to do that throughout the draft,”
“I don’t think we’re limited at the fronts, right? That stuff should show up at all levels of our offensive and defensive operations, and clearly on special teams. That’s always going to remain at the forefront. Those two elements in tandem is a combination that we covet. I think you’ll hear just about every time that Liam steps to a podium, he’s going to mention some version of physical and mental toughness as really what he’s hunting up.” Gladstone added.
Meanwhile, Jacksonville’s star quarterback, Trevor Lawrence, is back on the practice field, and easing his way back having suffered a run of injuries in 2024. The 25-year-old started ten of his team’s 17 regular-season games, during which his team could only manage a woeful 2-8 record.
On his ongoing recovery, Coen stated.
“He’s been working on it himself right now in terms of monitoring that with the doctors, and with Will [Strength and Conditioning Coach Will Wynkoop] and Ferg [Vice President of Player Health and Performance Jeff Ferguson] and those guys downstairs,”
Lawrence, who was the first overall draft pick in 2021, is a player with immense talent and having him fully fit and raring to go is essential to any plans and aspirations Coen has for 2025, and the opportunity to see him combine with Hunter is one that no doubt whets the lips of Jacksonville Jaguars fans.
