US Sports Events to Note on Your Calendar for the Remainder of 2025

For sports fans, every year is unique as it features a combination of recurring annual events and those that happen only occasionally. If you are actively following the US sports scene, you have plenty to be excited about in 2025. The calendar is full of big international events that feature the best athletes in the world and will keep fans on the edge of their seats for days. It’s not too late to plan your attendance, or at least make smart bets on the same Ontario site you can use for online casino play.

Let’s examine the most significant events that are scheduled for the rest of this year and take place in the United States.

May 3rd – Kentucky Derby

For those who love the equestrian sport, there is nothing quite like the Kentucky Derby. The most iconic US horseracing event of the season is always a big deal for competitors as well as spectators. This race is traditionally held in the first week of May, and represents the first leg of the Triple Crown series. The Churchill Downs racetrack in Louisville exudes history as it has been continually in operation since 1875, and visiting in person is a once in a lifetime experience.

June 5th Start of NBA Finals

After a long regular season and three grueling playoff rounds, two best teams in basketball will meet in the Finals to decide the champion in a best-of-7 series. Boston Celtics are the current champions, but they are far from certain to successfully defend their title, as the field of contenders is deep. NBA games are always entertaining, but the intensity ramps up in the playoffs and reaches a pinnacle in the Finals so you should definitely watch at least a few games if you are a casual basketball fan.

June 12th – 15th – US. Open (Golf)

This PGA Tour event is one of four most relevant tournaments in golf, and it has a tradition dating back to 19th century. It’s played on a different course every year, but always takes place in June to take advantage of good weather. The 2025 edition will be hosted by the Oakmont Country Club in Western Pennsylvania, a charming venue that is widely considered to be one of the best in the US. With prize money in excess of US$ 20 million, it’s a given that all the best players will be in town for this event.

June 14th – July 13th FIFA Club World Cup

By hosting the first Club World Cup with a field expanded to 32 teams, the United States is continuing to demonstrate that it’s serious about high-level soccer. The teams will be divided in 8 groups, with top two clubs from each group advancing to the knockout stage of the tournament. Ten cities in total will host some of the official games, with the finals taking place at the MetLife stadium located in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

August 25th – September 7th US Open (Tennis)

Every tennis fan in the United States is aware of the importance of the US Open, the last of the four Grand Slam tournaments on the calendar. For two weeks in September, Flushing Meadows in New York will be the center of the tennis world, a place where top players battle it out on synthetic surface and compete for a portion of a $US 75 million prize pool. The tournament include competitions in men’s and women’s singles and doubles, as well as mixed doubles.

September 19th – 28th World Skateboarding Championship

This competition is a part of a 3-event tour that will start in Italy in June before arriving to Washington DC for the second leg and ultimately ending in Japan. Skateboarding may not have the same profile as mainstream sports, but there will be no shortage of interest for this amazing display of skill and creativity. If you are curious about this sport, here is your perfect chance to become more familiar with it and watch the best skateboarders in the world in action.

October 21st World Series

Baseball remains one of the most popular sports in North America, and all the fans are eagerly waiting year-long for the grand finale. The World Series is more than just a string of games – its cultural heritage is so rich that even Americans who don’t care about sports tune in to follow. No matter which teams ultimately qualify, this year’s series will certainly be dramatic and memorable, and we will all have a chance to watch history books written in real time.

November 2nd New York City Marathon

Few sports events can take over an entire city the same way a marathon does, and the race scheduled for the first week of November will turn all five boroughs of New York into an urban running route. Anyone who attended this race in the past will tell you it is an experience like no other, for participants as well as those who come only to cheer. Last year’s race had more than 50,000 runners and a similar number is expected in 2025.
