Background

The Jacksonville Jaguars (4-2) take on the New Orleans Saints (3-3) at 8:15 p.m. ET on Thursday Night Football at Caesars Superdome.

Follow along here for live updates and key highlights from the game!

First quarter

Trevor Lawrence still looks like Trevor Lawrence. Jacksonville received the first-half kickoff and started 5-6 for 60 yards through the air — Travis Etienne capped off the 10-play, 75-yard opening drive with a 2-yard touchdown.

New Orleans drove 43 downfield on its own opening drive, but Blake Grupe’s 51-yard field goal attempt missed right.

The disaster struck for the Jaguars. On the first play of its second possession, Lawrence found Christian Kirk wide open for a 19-yard pickup, but Kirk fumbled the ball and the Saints hopped on it. Jacksonville was able to force a three-and-out, but on the punt return, the Jaguars lost yet another fumble. Fortunately, Montaric Brown (starting in place of Tyson Campbell) made a critical third-down pass deflection to make the Saints settle for a 23-yard field goal.

Second quarter

On offensive drive No. 3, the Jaguars picked up two first downs before Lawrence scampered for 26 and Etienne scored from 17 out. Etienne now has more rushing touchdowns than any NFL player not named Raheem Mostert.

Jaguars 14, Saints 3

A special teams penalty gave New Orleans the ball near midfield, and Alvin Kamara picked up gains of 4, 3, and 17 yards through the air to move the Saints into scoring territory. But the Jaguars made another stand and forced a 35-yard field goal.

Jaguars 14, Saints 6

In its last possession before the half, Jacksonville put together a 10-yard, 55-yard drive that was capped off by a 43-yard Brandon McManus field goal. Dawuane Smoot got a strip sack to send the teams into their respective locker rooms.

Jaguars 17, Saints 6

Third quarter

New Orleans started the second half with an 11-play, 62-yard drive — but Jacksonville was yet again able to bend without breaking. The Saints connected on a 42-yard field goal to make it a one-score game.

Jaguars 17, Saints 9

A false start set the Jaguars back five yards and they went three and out. Three plays into the Saints’ next possession, Foye Oluokun came down with a tipped pass and returned it to the house.

Jaguars 24, Saints 9

Fourth quarter

The Saints responded with a lengthy 17-play drive that took half a quarter off the clock and ended with a Taysom Hill 1-yard plunge. New Orleans has converted just 2-of-14 third downs but is 4-for-5 on fourth down, including the Hill score.

Jaguars 24, Saints 16

Jacksonville went for a 4th-and-1 on the opposing 47-yard line and Etienne was predictably stuffed. New Orleans went straight downfield with Carr finding Michael Thomas for 17 yards, Taysom Hill for 19, and Thomas for 17 again plus a score. Kamara caught the two-point conversion on a pick route against Brown to tie the game.

Jaguars 24, Saints 24

Trevor Lawrence and the offense got the ball back with just under four minutes left in the game, and Christian Kirk promptly took a short pass 44 yards to the pylon on the second play of the drive!

FINAL: Jaguars 31, Saints 24

Thought this was the age of bombs away in the NFL, didn’t you?

Thought this was the age of bombs away in the NFL, didn't you? Quarterbacks routinely passing 30, 40 or even 50 times a game. QBs and wide receivers making vulgar amounts of money.   So where are all the points? Last week's games were an eye-opener. In 15 games, 23 teams scored 20 points or less. Four scored in single digits; 14 in the teens.   The Dolphins posted the […]
