Indianapolis Colts Embarrassed By Jacksonville Jaguars In Blank Loss

todaySeptember 20, 2022

Background

While it’s true that the Jacksonville Jaguars are a much-improved side, when you compare their current strengths against their woeful one-win season in 2020, losing to Doug Pederson’s side without putting a point on the board is something of a massive embarrassment.

The Indianapolis Colts suffered the ignominy of losing 24-0 to the Jaguars, with quarterback Trevor Lawrence throwing two touchdown passes to wide-receiver Christian Kirk, and it’s a loss that the traveling side did not take well.

Defensive tackle DeForest Buckner did not mince his words when asked to assess his team’s display, commenting;

“The s— was embarrassing,”

“We got our a– whooped. We have to come in tomorrow, take it on the chin, and grow from this.”

While such a defeat is hard to take, it is worth offering the Jaguars some credit for another strong display, having run out narrow 22-28 losers in their first game of the new season at the Washington Commanders.

If you are a fan of the Jaguars, then life is looking a whole lot less bleak than in 2020, and you may even feel confident enough to back your side in the sports betting market, in which case you should click here for more info in terms of the best sportsbooks that are out there, that way you get more bang for your buck.

As for the Colts, they are still chasing their first win, having tied in overtime in their first game of the season at the Houston Texans. They’ll hope to get back to winning ways when they host the Kansas City Chiefs in week three, and quarterback Matt Ryan wants to see a real improvement from his team;

“I certainly had high expectations coming in,”

“And you certainly don’t think you’re going to be 0-1-1. That’s just not in the competitor’s mindset. We are where we are, and I think being realistic about where we’re at is important. It has to be brutal honesty.”

The Jaguars are now starting to see real maturity and growth from QB Lawrence, in his second pro season, and he certainly outgunned Ryan in terms of the quarterback match-up and is clearly a player whom a lot is expected of, and that can take its toll on any young talent.

Lawrence undoubtedly prefers life under Pederson as opposed to his predecessor Urban Meyer;

“I just think the way he carries himself, having played quarterback and all that plays into it,”

“The main thing is he just understands what we’re doing, what we’re going through, the way he talks to us constantly. We had a lot of conversations about the plan, about everything, and we’re always on the same page. Not every game’s going to go exactly how you planned. But to have that alignment is really important, and I think we’ve done a good job of that.”

We’d back the Jaguars to make real gains in 2022, and perhaps they might even make inroads towards securing only a second post-season run since 2008.

Jaguars Continue Mastery of Colts in Jacksonville

The Jaguars owned AFC South rival Indianapolis for 60 minutes, shutting the Colts out 24-0 at TIAA Bank Field. It was the eighth shutout in franchise history and the eighth straight victory over the Colts in Jacksonville. This was a sensational afternoon. Significant defensive contributions were being […]
