It’s time to point the finger at Trevor Lawrence.
The slumping Jaguars have lost three straight games, finding themselves in danger of missing the playoffs, and Lawrence’s sloppy play has been a major factor in the team’s sudden decline.
In Sunday’s 23-7 loss to the Ravens at the Bank, the Jaguars found numerous ways to toss away points. The most inexplicable was Lawrence’s fumble inside the red zone. He ran untouched when he suddenly dropped the ball. (For the record, no quarterback has had more fumbles than Lawrence over the last three years.)
Then there was the end of the first half. The Jaguars had no timeouts. They were inside the 10 with only a handful of seconds remaining. Twice Lawrence threw short passes short of the end zone and in-bounds. Time expired before they could kick a field goal.
There’s no denying Lawrence has incredible talent and is a major reason the Jaguars are no longer a laughing stock, but he’s also a major reason the Jaguars are now dragging their tails.
