Trevor Lawrence is officially active and will start today. He was placed in the concussion protocol after last week’s loss to the Ravens but was able to get in a limited practice on Friday. However, Zay Jones is out with a hamstring injury.

First quarter

Tampa Bay waltzed 69 yards down the field on the opening possession and converted three 3rd-and-mediums to reach the red zone. Fortunately, on a 3rd down from the 6-yard line, a batted pass by Adam Gotsis saved a potential touchdown and forced the Bucs to kick a 24-yard field goal.

Jaguars 0, Buccaneers 3

Lawrence picked up a pair of first downs with 11-yard passes to Evan Engram and Travis Etienne. But on Jacksonville’s next three plays, they had an aborted handoff, an incomplete deep shot, and miscommunication that led to an interception. The Bucs then went 56 yards in 11 plays and Mike Evans caught a three-yard touchdown.

Jaguars 0, Buccaneers 10

Second quarter

Yet again, the Jaguars crossed midfield and promptly forgot how to act. Ridley was tackled for a 12-yard loss on a reverse and Brandon McManus missed a 52-yard field goal two plays later. Jacksonville’s defense stopped Tampa Bay on a 4th-and-5 just out of the red zone, but Andre Cisco was called for roughing the passer, although the Bucs did kick four plays later.

Jaguars 0, Buccaneers 13

Lawrence threw another interception via miscommunication, and Evans scored another touchdown. Time is a flat circle.

Jaguars 0, Buccaneers 20 (HALF)

Third quarter

Jacksonville went three-and-out after Lawrence was strip-sacked on third down. The Bucs scored quickly with a 2-yard run by Rachaad White, set up by a 25-yard pickup by third-string tight end Payne Durham.

Jaguars 0, Buccaneers 27

Tampa Bay extended its lead with a 51-yard field goal after the Jaguars were unsuccessful on a 4th-and-13 at the Bucs 40.

Jaguars 0, Buccaneers 30

The Jaguars finally scored its first points of the game with an 18-yard touchdown from Ridley. The two-point attempt failed, and worse, it appears that Lawrence is dealing with shoulder pain.

Jaguars 6, Buccaneers 30

Fourth quarter

C.J. Beathard replaced Lawrence, and on his second snap, Engram coughed up a fumble. At least we all get to spend more time with family tonight.

Ridley caught a garbage-time touchdown from Beathard to help the Jaguars reach double-digit points. The two-point attempt to Engram fell short.

Jaguars 12, Buccaneers 30 (FINAL)

This is my happiest time of the year

This is my happiest time of the year.   I love the giving, the music, the smiles on so many kids' faces, the bright lights, and the food (OF COURSE).   And all the sports: major bowl games and the start of the NFL playoffs.   I grew up poor but didn't know it because after the necessary bills, my parents spent everything on us three kids, never on themselves.
