This is my happiest time of the year.
I love the giving, the music, the smiles on so many kids’ faces, the bright lights, and the food (OF COURSE).
And all the sports: major bowl games and the start of the NFL playoffs.
I grew up poor but didn’t know it because after the necessary bills, my parents spent everything on us three kids, never on themselves. Christmas morning was a joyous affair. That’s why I taught my two sons about giving to the needy during this special holiday. We always adopted a struggling family and provided gifts and food — and occasionally a tree.
The best gift this time of year is wishing strangers you see a Merry Christmas with a smile.
And because this is my last rant of the year allow me to do just that: MERRY CHRISTMAS.
