Background

The Jacksonville Jaguars (9-7) take on the Tennessee Titans (5-11) at 1:00 p.m. ET on Sunday at Nissan Stadium.

Follow along here for live updates and key highlights from the game!

First quarter

Jacksonville received the first half kickoff (Tank Bigbsy was back deep to return) and the Jaguars drove 49 yards in 11 plays before Brandon McManus kicked a 44-yard field goal to put the good guys up early.

Jaguars 3, Titans 0

Tennessee responded with a strong opening drive of their own, screening their way into the endzone via a 28-yard score by Tyjae Spears.

Jaguars 3, Titans 7

The teams traded punts on their second possessions.

Second quarter

On Jacksonville’s third drive, Trevor Lawrence completed third down passes to Calvin Ridley and Zay Jones before uncorking a 59-yard touchdown to Ridley!

Jaguars 10, Titans 7

Tennessee reclaimed the lead with an 18-yard touchdown from Derrick Henry. Both offenses are averaging over 7.8 yards per play right now.

Jaguars 10, Titans 14

Lawrence rifled a throw to Evan Engram on 3rd-and-3, only for the tight end to drop the ball and bobble it into the awaiting arms of a Titans defender. Six plays later, Spears punched in a 3-yard touchdown. Jacksonville’s defense has missed about 400 tackles today.

Jaguars 10, Titans 21

Just inside the 2-minute warning, Lawrence sailed a pass to Jones that was intercepted. It felt like all hope was lost for Jacksonville — but Travon Walker came up with a big sack (getting him to 10 on the season) and Tennessee’s punter couldn’t hold onto the snap, allowing Brenton Strange to tackle him at the 38-yard line. Jacksonville inched up to the 12-yard line and converted a 30-yard field goal to finish the half.

Jaguars 13, Titans 21

Third quarter

Henry got things going immediately with a 69-yard run on the second play of the second half. Two plays later, Ryan Tannehill found DeAndre Hopkins in the back of the end zone.

Jaguars 13, Titans 28

Jacksonville picked up a few first downs to get across midfield, but the possession ended with a turnover on downs. Fortunately, the Jaguars were able to force a quick Titans punt.

Fourth quarter

Lawrence found Engram three times for 13-plus yards, including a back shoulder touchdown at the front pylon. Jacksonville kicked the extra point after its 10-play, 63-yard drive to make it a one-possession game.

Jaguars 20, Titans 28

After picking up one first down, Tannehill tried to thread the needle downfield but was intercepted by Andre Cisco! No. 5 took it 28 yards on the return to set up Jacksonville on the TEN 28.

The Jaguars got down to the 1-yard line with two chances to score. But on third down, Lawrence was forced to throw it away on a failed play action call, and on fourth down, Lawrence’s signature Jordan Space Jam Stretch came up short. The Titans have possession with under eight minutes remaining.

Tennessee took nearly five minutes off the clock with an 8-play drive that ended with a punt to Jacksonville’s 25-yard line. Lawrence picked up 8 yards on the ground before the 2-minute warning. He overthrew Ridley on a deep bomb that could’ve set up the game-tying 2-point conversion, but instead, the Jaguars turned the ball over on downs to end their 2023 season.

My final thoughts on FSU’s season

My final thoughts on FSU's season:   It's a shame America didn't get to see the real FSU team. It's a shame the Seminoles were embarrassed on national TV and that's what most fans, certainly casual fans, will remember.   The team that went 13-0 and won the ACC championship wasn't chosen for the four-team CFP. As a result nearly 30 players did not suit up for the Orange Bowl. […]
