LAMM AT LARGE: Deserving or not, Cincinnati is getting their shot

todayDecember 7, 2021

Background

Cincinnati isn’t one of the four best college football teams in the nation — and we all know it.

But that doesn’t mean the Bearcats shouldn’t be in the four-team playoff. In such an imperfect system of choosing the four playoff teams, Cincinnati checked every box. As long as the schools — the NCAA has nothing to do with the playoff — use an element of a beauty contest to pick the playoff teams, there’ll always be a debate of some kind.

Is Ohio State better than what heretofore was thought of as an in-state pest?

What about Baylor, the Big 12 champion?

Who’d you pick if your life depended on it: Texas A&M or Cincinnati?

None of it matters. The Bearcats are in. Go ‘Cats.
