LAMM AT LARGE: FSU’s biggest concern is apathy

todaySeptember 28, 2021

Background

I can’t tell you what’s wrong with FSU football. I do have an idea. I do know that it runs deep, deeper than just recruiting and coaching.

Anyone under 50-55 can’t imagine what’s going on. FSU had an elite program starting in the late 70s until five years ago — when Jimbo Fisher decided to spend more time looking for a new job than maintaining the Seminoles’ lofty status in college football.

Since then the decline has been rapid. Now off to an 0-4 start for the first time since the mid-70s when there was talk of FSU dropping football, the future looks awful.

The big problem is apathy. I’m not just talking about all of the empty seats at the Louisville game. I don’t hear Noles say they’re angry. In fact, I don’t hear Noles saying anything.

Not caring is a killer. Well, basketball season isn’t that far off.
