I can’t imagine any rational Gator fan thinking Florida will win at Tennessee.
First, the Volunteers are 3-0, admittedly against a relatively soft schedule.
Second, the Gators are 2-1, but should be 0-3. A late interception in the end zone gave them a victory against Utah. After being pushed around by Kentucky in the Swamp, a late bad snap in the shotgun formation and a dropped hold on a chip-shot, “gimme: field goal allowed them to escape losing to 24-point underdog South Florida IN THE SWAMP.
There are many issues in Gainesville, but allow me to concentrate on two: Coach Billy Napier and QB Anthony Richardson, and they’re related.
Quarterback Draw.
No one in college football is better running the play than Richardson. Has he run one this season? Has Napier called one? How about a quarterback sweep?
One theory is Napier’s protecting Richardson at least until transfer Jack Miller (Ohio State) is healthy. Nice plan, but Richardson needs to play HIS GAME NOW and that means running and throwing.
His days on the Heisman Trophy watch list are long gone, Maybe the Gators’ chances of a significant bowl game are, too, if Napier doesn’t allow Richardson to do his thing..
