LAMM AT LARGE: Let’s Talk Baseball

todayMay 4, 2022

Background
Let’s check in on how things are going a month into the Major League Baseball season.
The good surprises are Mets, the Angels, Marlins and Twins.
The Mets are already 10 games above without the injured Jacob deGrom, baseball’s best pitcher. The key is free agent Max Scherzer, the second best pitcher in baseball. The Angels’ Mike Trout is having another MVP-caliber season, making for Shohei Ohtani’s slow start.’.
The biggest disappointments are the defending champion Braves, who aren’t hitting or pitching well, the Red Sox because of bad defense, and the White Sox, who lost too many free agents.
The teams playing up to high expectations are the Yankees, Blue Jays, the Brewers and all NL West teams not named Arizona.

We live in an age when the NBA is loaded with giants who run like gazelles and jump like tigers. Then there's Nikola Jokic. The  Nugget's 6-11, 284-pound center may be the league's most unathletic player. He lopes up and down the court and on a good day may be able […]
