Background
Most of us won’t admit it, but other people’s missteps often make us feel good about ourselves. That’s especially true if those who stumble are any kind of celebrity.
Think Urban Meyer.
When we find out these privileged people have feet of clay, it is often seen as a message they’re not any different, any better, than you and me.
What Meyer did was stupid. Leaders are expected to live up to the code they preach to their followers. Now there’s talk from the owner, among others including Meyer, about regaining trust.
I guess that’s true, but in reality most of the players — and many of us — are privately snickering. Turns out the arrogant Meyer is like so many other guys.
Should we ever have thought that wasn’t true?
