I made my Christmas list and I checked it twice.
Now I’ve had to tear up most of it and hope there’s still time to make a new list before Christmas Eve arrives.
* I wanted to give Jaguars fans something to be excited about but that was taken care in last Sunday’s 40-34 overtime victory over the Cowboys at The Bank.
* I wanted to give Trevor Lawrence at tight end but maybe Evan Engram has taken care of that. He’s suddenly playing well — and not just catching the ball, How about how he fought to get out of bounds late in the Cowboys’ game, stopping the clock and preserving the Jaguars last timeout and a few precious seconds to allow enough time for a tying field goal?
* I wanted to give the Jaguars a defense capable of making key stops. Well, that has just been done in victories over the Titans and Cowboys.
There are things still on my original list:
* A new quarterback for the Gators. Coach Billy Napier doesn’t have anyone on his current roster. Best bet is the transfer portal although Coastal Carolina’s Grayson McCall is the best of an overall mediocre group.
* One more major championship for Tiger Woods.
* Victories over Power 5 schools next season for JU and UNF.
