I’m happy for Wisconsin and Packers fans everywhere. I’m happy for Aaron Rodgers. Mainly I’m happy for me.
I’m not a Cheese Head or Rodgers fan. Win or lose, I don’t care. I’m happy because I’d gotten so sick of hearing and reading about Rodgers no matter where I turned for my day’s sports news. Up until yesterday when he said he was returning to the Packers, I was horrified by the prospect of another offseason of Rodgers saying he’d never play in Green Bay again. And then saying he might return. And then hinting being traded or retiring might be in his immediate future. That went on until training camping.
Rodgers is a sure-fire Hall of Famer, He’s the NFL’s reigning MVP, an award he’s won four times. He’s a megastar and deserves media attention . . . but, good grief, not every hour of every day of every month . . . you get the point. Between you and me, I think he likes the attention.
The media bit, giving updates on Rodgers to say there was nothing to report and then speculating for hours on what he might do.
I guess I’m guilty, as well, by doing this rant. Oh well, that’s sports folks.
