Lamm At Large: The Gators Look To The Future

todayDecember 14, 2022

Background
I think the Gators are better off without quarterback Anthony Richardson for Saturday’s Las Vegas Bowl against Oregon State.
AR’s career was a highlight reel — big runs, big passes. But something else that marked his career was inconsistency. When he was good, he was very good. When he was bad, he was very bad.
Who knows? He may turn out to be an outstanding quarterback, but . . .
With AR gone, the 6-6 Gators get to move on; get a jumpstart on next season. Jack Miller is now healthy after suffering a broken thumb in preseason. The Ohio State transfer spent two seasons behind All-American C.J. Stroud. Because of Covid-19, he’s still only a redshirt freshman. Out of high school in Arizona, where he set numerous state passing records, he was a coveted pro-style QB.
Now the Gators get to see if he’s as good as his press clippings.
This game isn’t about 9-3 Oregon State. it’s about the future of the Gators, Coach Billy Napier and Miller.
