LAMM AT LARGE: UF can’t beat Alabama without Anthony Richardson

todaySeptember 15, 2021

Background
If I don’t restrain myself I’ll be telling you Anthony Richardson can jump over football stadiums and outrun speeding bullets. I could add that he might well be college football’s best player — not just best quarterback. I could tell you his numbers are a combination of incredible, mind-blowing, ridiculous and fabulous.
I could — and I might be right. The Gators’ homegrown redshirt freshman is the biggest reason Florida is off to a 2-0 start against outmatched opponents. In limited play in both games, the 6-4, 240 speedster has . . .  let me just share the numbers: 17 touches for 467 yards and 4 touchdowns on runs of 80 and 73 yards and passes of 75 and 41 yards; 11 carries for 275 yards and 6-11-192 passing. That’s 29 yards every time he runs or passes. That’s the stuff legends are made of.
So why isn’t Richardson the main man? Cause Emory Jones is the teacher’s pet. He was Dan Mullen’s first QB recruit, decommitting from Ohio State at the last minute. Jones has waited 3 years to be the man. He’s been Mr. Loyalty.
That’s wonderful, but Richardson is the only UF quarterback with any chance of beating Alabama.

I couldn't take watching such a mess any longer.   At least 4 holding penalties . . . another for too many men in the huddle . . . a couple of personal fouls . . . a few illegal procedures . . . at least 4 drops . . . 2 awful throws that turned into interceptions . . . Texans leading 27-7.   The Jaguars looked like […]
