Like it or not, money talks, tradition walks

Background

I disagree with the overwhelming majority of men’s pro golf experts who say the future of the game has never been more uncertain. I think it’s clear where the game is going — and sooner rather than later.

Three years ago, when LIV golf was created — the brainchild of Greg Norman and the Saudis — it was viewed as nothing more than a pipe dream. Now, it’s clear to me the Saudis and their bottomless money pit have won.

The tentative agreement reached earlier this year between the two was the PGA Tour’s admission it would go bankrupt fighting LIV. John Rahm’s leap to LIV last week was simply grabbing the LIV money before things crash in Ponte Vedra Beach. Expect other top pros to follow Rahm’s lead in the coming months (weeks).

Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan will be retiring before the end of next year.

Like it or not, money talks, tradition walks.
