There are more ways to watch TV these days than I can count. There’s cable, streaming, the TV antenna, and on and on. You’re literally able to watch every imaginable sporting event somewhere, from the Super Bowl to college volleyball. And on whatever gadget you use, TV, computer, tablet, watch . . .

That’s not the case now if you have Direct TV as I do. Direct TV doesn’t show NBC or ABC because of a dispute over — what else? — price. There’s no Golf Channel, one of my favorites. And now Direct TV is fighting with FOX and is threatening to drop that network and its off-shoots like FOX News and FOX Business.

If the dispute isn’t settled, sports fans won’t be able to watch the Daytona 500 and WWE wrestling among other things. Direct TV says it’s close to a deal with FOX. What about the other networks? Don’t know.

I grew up able to see only two networks, NBC and CBS. Sure I’m spoiled. But this is the 21st Century, isn’t it?
