I’ve got good news for Gator football fans.


Go ahead and accept those Christmas party invitations. Tell that niece, who couldn’t less about football, you’ll make her December wedding. Give your wife that Christmas cruise she’s dreamed about for years.


There’ll be no postseason for your Gators. They all but assured that thanks to lousy special teams play in a loss at The Swamp to a 2-6 Arkansas team.


Now, the Gators aren’t going to get that 6th victory needed to get invited to any bowl game. Who with a brain thinks the Gators will win at LSU or Missouri and at home against playoff-bound FSU?


Florida isn’t a terrible team. In the grand scheme, the Gators are slightly above average. Now if Coach Billy Napier hires an offensive coordinator and continues to recruit well and get better transfers than he loses, it could get better quickly in Gainesville.


In the meantime, wait ’til next season.
