Jacksonville Playoff Chances: Ranking All NFL Teams
We have ranked all NFL (National Football League) teams in terms of their playoff chances. We will show where the Jacksonville Jaguars lie in our team rankings list and discuss how likely the team is to reach the playoffs and how the Jaguars can enhance their chances.
The rankings in our list are based on performance, trends, and odds of futures markets from US Sportsbooks where you can wager on NFL teams to miss the playoffs. It may be early to place such a wager as all 32 teams can still mathematically reach the playoffs. However, the rankings in our list still provide valuable insights into which teams will struggle to be playoff contenders as the situation shakes out and becomes clearer in the coming weeks.
What are Jacksonville playoff chances?
The Jaguars are sitting at 2-8. They’re one of the worst teams in the league. Realistically, Jacksonville’s chances of reaching the NFL playoffs are small, around 1%. They are 14th in our AFC playoff rankings list, a position that reflects the team’s form so far this season and the fact that they have some do-or-die matches in the coming weeks, so there is no room for error.
How do the Jacksonville playoff chances compare to other NFL teams?
The Philadelphia Eagles are among the NFC playoff favorites. They have a powerful offense and a solid defense. Other NFC playout favorites are the Detroit Lions, well-known for their consistency, and the San Francisco 49ers, who remain strong playoff contenders despite problems with injuries and some mid-season sluggishness. The Dallas Cowboys and Atlanta Falcons are also among the playoff favorites in this division.
Moving to the AFC, you can virtually guarantee that the Kansas City Chiefs will secure a playoff spot as the team is performing well in the NFL regular season and is already a favorite to achieve Super Bowl success. Other playoff favorites in this division are perennial contenders, the Buffalo Bills, and solid performers, such as the Baltimore Ravens. The Miami Dolphins’ favorable schedule gives them a good chance of reaching the playoffs. It’s also difficult to ignore the Cincinnati Bengals, as the team’s strength allows them to recover from a disappointing start.
Looking at the NFC teams that are least likely to feature in the playoffs, it leads to the Chicago Bears. They have struggled to find any form so far, and it’s difficult to see them overcome this. Similarly, the Arizona Cardinals have disappointed and have virtually no chance of attaining a playoff spot. The other NFC teams that seem virtually out of the running already are the New York Giants and the Los Angeles Rams.
The Denver Broncos are amongst the least likely AFC teams to reach the playoffs, although recent improvements may help a little. The Las Vegas Raiders, the New York Jets, and the New Orleans Saints are other struggling teams in the division that are unlikely to feature in the playoffs.
Below is the complete ratings list for the 32 teams, listed from bottom to top. The Jacksonville Jaguars are amongst the lowest-ranked teams in terms of playoff chances, although mathematically, they can still make it.

How can Jacksonville improve their playoff chances?
Given their current performance level, standing, and schedule, it will be difficult for the Jaguars to improve their potential to reach the playoffs. However, experts believe there are several key areas where improvements could make a difference.
Quarterback Trevor Lawrence has found it challenging to execute plays due to issues with the team’s offensive line. Improvements to pass protection and better running lines could improve the situation.
The Jaguars have limited defensive consistency, which makes it difficult to pressure the opponent’s quarterbacks and stop big plays. Enhancing their pass rush and coverage would help.
Having more consistency in their running game would help balance the Jaguar’s offense and create opportunities for play-action passing.
More creative play-calling from Doug Pederson and his team is required, as is enhanced game management.
Given the Jaguars’ performance so far this season, it is not easy to see them reaching the playoffs, especially given the quality of other NFL teams. However, these improvements could give the team an outside chance as positions shake out in the coming weeks, but they can’t afford to lose against Detroit Lions next Sunday.
