LAMM AT LARGE: Admit it…you’ll watch Tiger this week

todayDecember 15, 2021

Background

This week’s PNC Championship has been around for 26 years, known by various names and played at several sites. Many golf fans still refer to it as the Father-Son even though daughters first played in 2005. It’s 36 holes of hit-and-giggle golf.

Few of us have paid much attention, and that includes hard-core golf nuts like me. It’s been televised because what else is the Golf Channel going to show?

But all of that has changed this year because Tiger is back. It’s been 10 months since Woods’ terrifying car accident that almost  cost him his right leg. Just being able to walk is a near-miracle. Playing golf  is mind-blowing. Competitive golf? Are you crazy?

Millions of eyes will be on Tiger this week. He has that kind of drawing power. Who’ll be the better Woods, Tiger or 12-year-old son Charlie?

NBC will be showing the tournament Saturday and Sunday. The network expects relatively big numbers  even going up against the sports monster known as the NFL. And, of course, most the the attention will be focused on the Woods duo.

Admit it. You’ll take at least a peek yourself.
