LAMM AT LARGE: CFB Is Here

todayAugust 25, 2022

Background
College football begins this weekend. Depending how you enjoy it, its a glorious ride — hip-hip-hooray — or another disappointing autumn — ho hum.
If you enjoy the process, its great. If you are obsessed with the final result, most of you will be miserable long before the 4-team playoff starts.
College football lacks parity. Going back a decade, the four-team playoff has featured Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State and Clemson. There’s an occasional intruder — Notre Dame, Michigan and even Cincinnati — but not many.
Are coaches Nick Saban, Kirby Smart, Ryan Day and Dabo Swinney, simply smarter than other coaches (no) or have better facilites (mostly)?
Me? I enjoy the ride. Florida State-Miami, Georgia-Florida and many others are wonderful even there are no serious national championship implications. I enjoy rivalries, bands and, especially, the tailgating with friends.
I simply enjoy college football and let the chips fall where they fall.
