LAMM AT LARGE: In State Rivalries Go Deep

Background
It’s usually difficult to get excited about college basketball in Florida. No school in the state would ever be compared with the blue blood programs.
But several state schools have had their moments.
None more so than the Gators, who won back-to-back national titles in ’06-’07. The Seminoles lost in the national championship game ’72. Ditto for JU in ’70.
Usually, however, there’s an early exit the few times Sunshine State programs make the post season.
Therefore you can imagine my surprise when I did research on the state’s greatest players. Keep in mind I arrived in Jacksonville in ’77 and seldom paid much attention to Sunshine State basketball before that.
There are dozens of players who rank in the outstanding and great categories. This week I’ll talk about the best of the best of the Seminoles, Gators and others.
