LAMM AT LARGE: It’s Been That Kind of Jekyll-and-Hyde Season

todayDecember 14, 2022

Background
Sure, its been a frustrating season for the Jaguars and their fans, marked by a handful of heartbreaking losses.
But improvement has been made in Coach Doug Pederson’s first season. Trevor Lawrence now looks like the can’t-miss quarterback the Jaguars drafted No. 1 overall in 2021. That’s never been more obvious than in last Sunday’s 36-22 victory at Tennessee.
Here we are with our Christmas decorations up and the Jaguars still have playoff hopes with a 5-8 record. Heard anyone talking about this year’s draft?
Admittedly slim hope, but hope nevertheless. Remember 1966 when Hall of Fame kicker Morten Anderson of the Falcons missed a 30-yard field in the final minute to give the Jaguars a 19-17 victory and a playoff berth?
The remaining schedule, starting this Sunday with the Cowboys coming to Jacksonville. isn’t easy. Road trips to the Jets and Texans are followed by a season-ending visit from the Titans that could decide the AFC South title. They could win all four. Of course they could lose all four.
It’s been that kind of Jekyll-and-Hyde season.
