LAMM AT LARGE: Jon Gruden had to go

todayOctober 13, 2021

Background

Who didn’t know Jon Gruden would resign or be fired as the Raiders coach? The moment old e-mails were uncovered of him making bigoted and insensitive comments, his fate was cemented.

In the world we live in, there is zero tolerance for such remarks. No matter how old they are; no matter how vague they may be.

People have lost their jobs and social standing for comments made decades ago. It doesn’t matter how someone has lived his life since.

I don’t know Gruden. I don’t know if he’s a racist and anti-gay, etc. That’s not even an issue. Don’t say anything, don’t put anything in writing you don’t want the world to know about you.

He foolishly put them in writing. Let it be a lesson. If you don’t love everyone — or at least accept them — keep it to yourself and hope no such remarks in your pass surface.
