For the better part of the last 25 years college football has been about Florida, Florida State and/or Miami.
That was then, this is now.
This year’s Top 25 includes only one of them, Miami, at No. 16. That ranking is more about hope than what the ‘Canes have done. The arrival of coach Mario Cristobal has the ‘Canes excited.
So Gators, Seminoles and “Canes, how does it feel being one of the downtrodden?
The immediate future doesn’t have any of our big 3 — that’s a small b in case you’re wondering — making a big move — yet.
There is some excitement in Gainesville with the arrival of Coach Billy Napier, who was dominant in a lower level , and the hope QB Anthony Richardson can stay healthy. I mentioned the hope in Miami..
That leaves FSU, whose coach, Mike Novell, who’s working on borrowed time.
The time has arrived to see where our big 3 are. The Gators are an underdog at home against Utah. FSU is an underdog at LSU. Miami is heavily favored to beat outclassed Bethune-Cookman.
Are any of them ready to reverse their recent trend? Doubtful.
