We all know now what an awful coaching job Urban Meyer did in his brief career running the Jaguars. But, admit it, most of you were thrilled when he was hired.
Doug Pederson has been hired to clean up the mess. Given time I think he’ll do it. He’s an established NFL coach, both as head coach and an assistant.
It’s difficult to argue with much he’s done and said so far. Well, I did disagree with taking Travon Walker as the No. 1 overall draft pick although I do think Walker will be a very good player. Sure, the team paid too much for free agent Christian Kirk, but the team disparately needs wide receivers.
Pederson is taking the approach of gradually improving. That shouldn’t be difficult considering the team’s 15 victories the last 4 years and just 4 victories the last 2 seasons. Pederson knows it’s about building, getting a little better as each position. Rome wasn’t built in a day.
Improving the offensive line is No. 1 priority. It’s also the most difficult position to find different makers.
It seems cruel to ask Jaguars fans to be patient. I know you feel like you’ve been patient forever.
But at least now you don’t have a clown running the show.
