A letter mistakenly came across my desk this week. I mistakenly opened it.
Much to my surprise, what did I see right before my eyes? It was a letter to Santa Claus from Jaguars owner Shad Khan
Dear Santa,
It may seem a surprise that I’d be asking for anything because I’m worth billions. But there are some things money can’t buy. One of them is a winning NFL team. What I’m asking for isn’t just for me but for thousands of long suffering, loyal fans.
I’m want a coach who knows the NFL and how to treat people like human beings. I want a general manager who can recognize talent and show good judgment in handing out contracts.
I want three offensive linemen, a No. 1 receiver and — PLEASE –a tight end. I’d also need a pass-rusher, a couple of linebackers, another cornerback and a safety. Probably need another placekicker, too.
I know that’s a lot but you missed me a lot when I was growing up poor in Pakistan. Scratch that, Santa, because my life’s turned out well. Maybe there’s something I can do for you in return. Build a new toy factory in the North Pole? A jet-propelled sleigh so Rudolph and the gang can get some rest?
I’ll leave a filet mignon and a good bottle of wine for you. Some bananas foster, too.
Your admirer,
Shad
