LAMM AT LARGE: The Brittney Griner Situation

I feel terrible for Britany Griner. Sentenced to 9 years in a Russian prison after getting caught for having a small amount of an illegal drug at a Russian airport. That’s like getting a 9-year sentence in the USA for parking tickets.

But the WNBA star should’ve known better. This wasn’t her first year playing basketball in the shadow of the Kremlin. She pleaded guilty, obviously thinking that would soften her punishment.

Now comes the big question: Can the White House get her released on a prisoner swap. The Kremlin wants a terrorist known as the “Merchant of Death” in exchange.

That’s like swapping a peanut for an 18-wheeler.

Even if Paul Whelan, who’s been in a Russian prison since 2018 on charges of being a USA spy, is thrown in the deal, it seems like a big win for the Russians.

I expect a swap to be made. In America we value our citizens — even those who disrespect our flag by kneeling.
