LAMM AT LARGE: Training Camp Is Here

todayAugust 4, 2022

I’ve never paid much attention to training camp. I envy my colleagues to can stand 100 yards away from the practice action and later tell you which ones looked good and which ones looked bad.
The preseason scrimmages weren’t much different. Clearly the score means nothing. I try to isolate a few players and watch them each for 2-3 series.
This year is different, starting with tonight’s Hall of Fame game in Canton against the Raiders. With a new coach in Doug Pederson, I want to see what schemes are used and who lines up where. I’ll look for rotation patterns.
I’ll pay special attention to the wide receivers and linebackers. Also right tackle. Jawan Taylor or Walker Little.
As you’ve heard, there isn’t much mystery as to who makes the 53-day roster so there’s no reason to look at undrafted rookies and street free agents.
We won’t learn much tonight, but more than we do in most preseason exhibitions.
