The Seminoles are back. But not the ‘Canes.

Background

For years before the start of the college football season, I’d mark down two weekends: Georgia-Florida and FSU-Miami.

UF-UGA is obvious. It’s been played in Jacksonville since 1933 and IS the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party.

FSU-Miami became special starting in the late ‘80s and for more than a decade was the greatest collection of players — ever!  The list is too long to name all of the players, but you could start with the Seminoles’ Deion Sanders and the Hurricanes’ Ray Lewis. There were Heisman Trophy winners on both sides and enough NFL draft picks to stock a Super Bowl winner.

Sadly those days disappeared more than a decade ago. The Seminoles are back. But not the ‘Canes.

In fact, I didn’t realize this year’s game was Saturday in Tallahassee until earlier this week.
