Who is the real Trent Baalke? Is he the one who Jaguar fans mocked by wearing clown masks in 2022? Or is he the one who signed an incredible free agent class that included Christian Kirk, Evan Ingram, Darious Williams, and three others who helped turn the lowly Jaguars into a playoff team?
Now, Jaguar fans are calling for his scalp again after a second-half collapse left the Jaguars out of this year’s playoffs.
That’s the nature of coaching and being a GM in the NFL. One year you’re being hailed, the next year you’re being told to go to hell, or anywhere that’s not Jacksonville.
Baalke — as well as Coach Doug Pederson and staff — has not shined in the NFL draft. Last year the Jaguars had 13 draft picks, and only late first-round selection Anton Harrison, a right tackle, was a big help.
I’m not saying fans start looking for their clown masks, but they need to know where they are.
