LAMM AT LARGE: It’s Anyone’s Masters

todayApril 6, 2022

Background
I realize they don’t give away Green Jackets at Augusta National Golf Club, but you’ll never convince me it’ isn’t the easy major championship to win. Easier, too, than The Players and the WGC tournaments.
It’s a numbers game. This week’s Masters has a field of 90 players, and that’s assuming Tiger Woods plays (very doubtful).
The Players has the strongest field, followed by the WGC tournaments and the PGA Championship. The Opens are about equal . . . then you have the Masters.
Of the 90 players scheduled to tee off Thursday, there are at least nine former champions and six amateurs with no chance. I’m being generous with at least another half dozen former champs.
I say there are about 70 players who could pull a Larry Mize.
Sheffler, Rahm, Morikawa, JT, DJ and a few others have to love those odds.
