Who expected Denver and Miami to play for the NBA championship?

Background

When the NBA season began the number of people who expected Denver and Miami to play for the NBA championship would fit in Corvette.

Oh, the Nuggets were one of the favorites in the West, but wouldn’t they disappoint in the post-season as always despite having the game’s best player, Nikola Jokic?

And no one saw the Heat doing anything in the post-season — if it even made the playoff which it barely did through the play-in rounds. The NBA playoffs are usually chalk.

But the Heat shockingly knocked off No. 1 seed Milwaukee, No. 5 seed New York and No. 2 seed Boston.

Few give the Heat much of a chance again against Denver, but, really, are you going to doubt it after all it’s done this spring? Jimmy Butler has been working magic and Erik Spoelstra continues to prove he’s a top coach.

It has made for a great post-season even without Joel Embiid, Steph Curry, Jason Tatum, LeBron James, Luka Doncic, etc.

This, of course, could be a coming-out party for Jokic. Although he’s won two MVPs and has become a triple-double machine, he won’t be in a special class until he wins a ring. Ever notice how ringless Charles Barkley is always left off a list of the greatest players?
